There was something about the way poets described the sea that left her wondering about how a simple expanse of water could stir such strong emotions. Being a small town girl, she’d never experienced the sea that way before. The first time she did was on a ferry ride around her city. She stood on the deck, hands tightly gripping the flimsy metal banisters and gazed at the waves in front of her. The constant ebb and flow, the occasional splashes of aquatic creatures rising to the surface and then plunging into the depths, the sounds of the waves – it was a sensory explosion like none other. The sea was also reflective of her artistic mind, buzzing with thoughts and ideas. Soon, she made it a point to visit the sea every week. She would sit on the shore for hours and simply take it all in – every time it was as though the sea had something different to offer her, a new emotion, a new experience. It became her confidante, her happy place. She would write her best poetry by the sea, almost as though it was her muse and her font of strength.
Much like the sea, be a muse, a confidante and a vision to behold when you’re wearing this off-white cotton blouse.
Handloom cotton is handwoven by our weavers on mechanical looms. The process is time and labour-intensive, using techniques that have been passed down across generations of artisans. The resultant fabric is extraordinarily soft, breathable and resilient, and also drapes very well. Using handloom cotton not only helps us to work with smaller weavers but also plays an important role in reducing the environmental footprint of the garments we produce.
