Meet The Founders
Meet the Founders
Sujata Biswas (Su) – The Brain
Su is the big-picture thinker who knows how to turn ideas into institutions. An alumna of CET Bhubaneswar and IIFT Delhi, Su spent seven years navigating corporate corridors at Essar Group and Jindal Group, and was pursuing a PhD in e-commerce at IIT Bombay when she made a bold choice — to walk away and build something softer, stronger, and deeply human.
She’s a TEDx speaker, a Forbes India W-Power Trailblazer, and a firm believer that stories don’t just sell — they shape markets. At home, she’s mom to a little human, a dog, and an ever-growing plant family, juggling life with the same clarity and conviction she brings to Suta’s growth.
Taniya Biswas (Ta) – The Heart
An engineer from NIT Rourkela and an MBA from IIM Lucknow, Ta’s career spans strategy consulting at IBM, production management at Tata Refractories, and startup advisory roles with Seed Fund–backed ventures. But her real calling lay elsewhere — in building a brand where people always come first.
A TEDx speaker, entrepreneur, and change-maker, Ta is the pulse of Suta. She ensures that artisans feel respected, employees feel seen, and customers feel at home. Her philosophy is simple and powerful: doing good is contagious — and at Suta, she’s turned that belief into everyday practice.
At home, she finds joy in cooking up comfort meals, nurturing relationships, spending time with her little one, and bringing the same warmth, care, and intention to life that she brings to Suta — one thoughtful decision at a time.
Together: Su + Ta = Suta
They’re not just sisters — they’re co-conspirators of a movement.
One is the compass, the other the heartbeat.
One brings structure, the other brings soul.
Together, they turned a “forgotten saree” into a cultural comeback — building a bootstrapped,
₹90-crore brand, working with 17,000+ artisans, employing hundreds of people (most of them women),
and running 19 stores across India, all while staying rooted in values, honesty, and impact.
Recognised by leading publications like Vogue India, Elle, Harper’s Bazaar, and The Economic Times,
Su and Ta are not just building a fashion brand — they are redefining what mindful, modern Indian
fashion can look like.
Plot twist: This story is still unfolding. And if you’re here, you’re already part of the cast.
