Dear Diary,  

The day Ive been dreaming about is finally here - Ive made the big move to the City of Dreams. Its a bittersweet feeling... while Im excited for the journey ahead, it was very hard to say goodbye to everyone back home. The first thing I noticed about Mumbai is how much I sweat here. Its so hot and humid, and its still spring! I have to go shopping - none of the clothes I brought with me make any sense here. I am taken aback by how small the apartments here are! My entire house is the size of my room back home. But home is so far away. It feels as though my entire life has been packed into little cardboard boxes and all those boxes placed inside a slightly bigger box. Tomorrow, I will begin unpacking. For today, I will savour the last memories of home that still linger on my jacket. The smells, the sounds, the familiar comfort of a place Ive known my entire life. I will savour each moment of this evening and then stow them away in a faraway corner of my mind, so that I have room to make new memories. Perhaps I will learn to fall in love with Bombay just like so many others before me have. Perhaps Ill hate it. Only time can tell.
