Dear Diary, 

It was a holiday today, so I decided to take myself out on a date. It’s something a lot of people like to do here, to go out by themselves. It’s something I could have never imagined doing back home. Everyone was always urging me to make friends because loners are considered lonely. But I love my own company and this is a city that lets me embrace it. So, I stopped at a little cafe, bought myself a sandwich and a cold coffee, sent my colleague a bitter text about the exorbitant prices (it’s become somewhat of a tradition between us) and made my way to the seafront. It was a beautiful evening. The sun was setting the entire horizon was ablaze in a beautiful combination of pink, yellow and dark blue. Somewhere, an aspiring musician strummed a guitar. The breeze carried with it whiffs of jasmine and stray bit of conversation. I remember hugging myself. I remember feeling one with the moment. I remember feeling complete. Beyond me lay the sea and beyond it, the endless horizon. Perhaps there are things about this city that I love. Or at least like. Perhaps, it can be my home.
