As I sat watching the rain slap in ragged gusts against the windowpane, my imagination was flying and darting around in panicked zigzags! I was alone at the café that evening, sipping coffee and reading. Usually around this time, nobody else was around ” which worked out perfectly for me. The old lady who ran the coffee shop served her last cup for the day and prepared to lock the place up. That is when she entered ” the silhouette of a tall, dark-skinned, absolutely stunning figurine against the faint moonlight ” and for the first time in several hours I was distracted from my book. I did not believe in ˜love at first sight or in ˜serendipity ” it was all a well-conceptualized myth to lead people into superficial happiness, Id say. In todays world that is balanced so precariously, I always felt that its harmony can be shattered by a whisper!! So how can one glance hold the thread of two hearts for a lifetime? Until today ” when my belief was shattered. There was a pull I found almost impossible to resist, so much so that I turned my book upside down at the last read page, got up from my chair, walked absent-mindedly as though in a trance and stood silently next to her. I always sounded confident around strangers ” exchanging a smile, striking an interesting conversation, knowing exactly the right pace and tone to take it ahead came naturally to me. But not today. I took my own sweet time to soak in every bit of that fleeting moment from a strangely beautiful dream. By the time she was done buying what she came in for, she gently looked up and in that brief moment when our eyes met I saw a face as vibrant as the glowing moon on that fateful night. From that moment on not a single one was spent without knowing and appreciating our love for each other. Both our hearts were full of love but lives incomplete. She walked in that day and made us whole.

This handloom cotton saree in maroon with off-white and pink detailing is truly one of its kind ” just like YOU.

Handloom cotton is a type of fabric that is woven using hand-operated looms. Two sets of interlacing yarns, the warp (length) and weft (width), are woven on a mechanised loom operated by weavers. These looms do not use electricity. Human handling lends the fabrics a unique feel and renders the fabrics more value. The art of hand-weaving is labour intensive and takes a longer time. But, the beauty it adds to the fabric is priceless. Choosing handloom cotton supports the rich weaving heritage of India and lets the weavers carry on the precious art-form to the future generations as well.

The beautiful pomegranate-inspired motif that symbolizes the co-existence of contrasts is hand-woven into the fabric and brings a gorgeous charm to the fabric. It reflects the idea of breaking stereotypes and looking at things in more than one way, of acceptance and un-labeling. Are you ready to box up all those labels and promise never to open that box again? Welcome to the world of œAnaar Hi Anaar then! There is one anaar for everyone ” whether you choose to wear a saree or a kurta or stitch a dress with its fabric.
