She needed them to love her. The two expectations were often at cross-roads.

Mom and Dad were ashamed of her Queer identity; her choice of partners. Chhoti didnt seek her advice on matters of the heart anymore. And Chacha-Chachi had found someone to manage their finances. She had never known her family as a unit capable of straight-faced distancing.

She marched on relying on something instinctive. As her Dadaji often said, in their fools paradise, she was his phool. His golden amaltas.
